Her Drive: The Father Mystery
Everything Sophia does circles one core: the lost treasure and cure her father chased before his death. His death drives her to Minotaur Island — a mythical place "most people never leave." She carries a stolen Minoan sphere (the key to the light-beam puzzles) and gets pulled into the factions' struggle over the island's mysterious treasure.
Her Resonance with Theseus
As she goes deeper into the island, Sophia experiences Minoan-era flashbacks and realizes that what resonates inside her is the legendary hero Theseus — a figure who lived over two thousand years before her. Some flashback segments put you in control of Theseus:
- He has his own combat rhythm and his own Focus Attack
- Sophia's skill upgrades don't carry over to him
- Players who rely on red-attack parries must re-adapt after the switch
Theseus's story is Sophia's dark mirror: the Theseus myth (slaying the Minotaur) is retold here as a darker version, reflecting Sophia's own journey.
The Macula Connection (mild spoilers)
The title "Resonance" points straight at the core setup: Sophia's connection to the Minoan age, her mysterious link to Ariadne, and the unkillable creature at the island's heart — every thread ultimately leads to the origin of the Macula. Community theories hold that Macula-carrier blood runs in Sophia's veins. For the full reveal, see Ending Explained.
What Players Think of Her
- The post-game community mostly rates Sophia herself positively, but debates the plausibility of her "experiencing all this yet never mentioning it to Amicia in Requiem"
- Her combat style (kick + parry + throw) is praised as "solid, satisfying"
- The early duo-exploration segments with Leni are among the best-reviewed parts of the game
