Resonance Skill Mistakes — 5 Pitfalls to Avoid
Last verified: 2026-09-10 · Game version: Launch

The biggest skill-tree trap isn't a "wrong pick" — it's the Resonance Point mechanics. Wrong picks are free to respec; missed points can't be recovered.
Pitfall 1: Points Don't Carry Over via Chapter Select (the deadly one)
Resonance Points don't carry over through chapter select. Replaying an earlier chapter resets your total to what it was when you left it.
- ❌ Wrong: thinking "I'll top up points post-game via chapter select"
- ✅ Right: grab every point on the first run, targeting 165
This is the only permanently missable element — miss 165 and "Like A Warrior" requires a fresh save. See the Resonance Points guide.
Pitfall 2: Not Re-Grabbing Points After Dying
Dying loses the points collected since the last checkpoint. If you grabbed 2 points and died before saving, they're gone.
- ✅ Right: on a retry, re-collect that segment's points before pushing on
Pitfall 3: Parrying Red Attacks Without Aegean Deflect Mastery
Brute red attacks can't be blocked at first — dodge only. Many players charge in without Aegean Deflect mastery and get wrecked.
- ✅ Right: unlock Aegean Deflect mastery first, then parry red attacks — the Brute game-changer
Pitfall 4: Prioritizing Fated Cast
Fated Cast (store a throwable on your belt) is pure QoL — it barely affects combat power. Its "destined throw" name sounds cool, but it wastes points early.
- ✅ Right: unlock Fated Cast last — the first four (Hero's Step / Aegean Deflect / Echo's Return / Bullbreaker Kick) are what matter in combat
Pitfall 5: Fighting Theseus Flashbacks with Sophia's Muscle Memory
In the Theseus flashback segments, Sophia's skill upgrades don't carry over — especially red-attack parry, which becomes unavailable.
- ✅ Right: in flashbacks, dodge to learn the rhythm first, don't fight like your parry build
One-Line Summary
Wrong picks don't hurt (free respec) — missed points are fatal (no carry-over). Grab every one, unlock survival and parry first.
